Bathroom

There is always in life a time when you say I can make one of those, or see something which inspires.

I’ve had many but the two following examples are directly related to casual conversations between family.

‘I’d really like to tile the bathroom’, was one of them! I really like Hundertvasser so I said I’d create something along those lines. I began with doing a ceramic copy of one of my paintings ‘My lady of the sea’. This expanded into a beach, sky, a flying bird and a palm tree. More trees, more birds were added and a wall about leaves dropping in autumn. The floor was created, the front steps of the house, the entrance lobby, the stairs down to the area outside our bedrooms.

Molly said can we have some clouds on the ceiling? ‘Sure, why not’. I added a kid fishing in the clouds with a hook dangling in mid air.

Six months later the ‘Bathroom’ was completed.
